They’re at the northern end of Corowa and known as the 'Old Cocky’s Pub' because this is where the local farmers and graziers tend to meet, especially after the weekly lamb and cattle sales at the nearby sale yards. Some have been meeting here every Monday for 50 years!
They have no gambling, only people relaxing and talking but if you want to back yourself at a game of darts, you’re welcome, just be careful as some of the locals are pretty good. They also have raffles on Fridays.
Each of their six accommodation rooms has air-conditioning, mini-fridge and a television and the guests’ common-room has a microwave and all the makings for your morning tea and coffee. Showers and amenities are shared.
Albert Camplin took over the hotel in 1897. He was accidentally shot and killed by his brother in 1907 and they think it’s his friendly ghost who sometimes drifts through the pub at night opening locked doors and straightening photos on the wall.
They run their pub with four of their five daughters and they pride themselves on the warm welcome and family atmosphere they provide to regulars and first-timers....
