The Powerhouse Discovery Centre is temporarily closed until late 2015 due to a major upgrade that will delivery improved public facilities and a new shared storage facility for three of the State's largest cultural institutions.
The Powerhouse Discovery Centre is the Powerhouse Museum's publicly-accessible, museum storage and collection care facility located in Castle Hill. The Discovery Centre provides a very different behind-the-scenes museum experience as well as access to thousands of objects, including historic steam engines, cars, trams and planes and lots of smaller objects such as textiles, dolls, and ceramics displayed in themed artefact drawers.
The Powerhouse Discovery Centre offers a range of unique educational and fun experiences for families and children. During the school holidays the Discovery Centre presents special programs relevant to the collection including storytelling, shows, workshops and hands-on make and do craft activities.
